Static pallet racking systems

Combining our unparalleled experience in cold roll forming steel shapes with the expertise of our dedicated staff, Cresswell Industries can provide a solution for the most demanding requirements in pallet racking systems.

Defined by the market as "static" or "dynamic" pallet racking systems, every solution proposed by Cresswell Industries is designed to provide maximum flexibility for the requested application.

Static pallet racking systems:

As the name implies, static pallet racking systems are systems in which pallets remain motionless once deposited.

A- Single and double depth (Selective Pallet Rack, VNA): These are the most common applications for pallet storage.

Features of these systems:

  • High product selectivity. The forklift has access to all pallets in single depth.
  • For double depth pallet racking systems, a forklift with retractable forks is required in order to have access to the second pallet. The same forklift can be used for single depth operations. Thus, half the selectivity compared with single depth.
  • Possible to make use of the full height of the warehouse, when compared to a warehouse without pallet racking.
  • Easily adjustable and interchangeable, depending on your type of operation.
  • In the case of double depth, pallet storage capacity is increased by one third, depending on warehouse layout.
  • Reducing the width of the aisles and making use of available narrow-aisle forklifts can increase storage space by 20 to 30%.

B- Static pallet racking which are open on one or both sides (Drive-in and Drive-thru)

This pallet racking system is a good compromise for maximizing warehouse density, because density can be increased considerably compared to a single pallet racking system. Tunnels are created which are open on both sides (drive-thru) or on one side only (drive-in). Clearly, the ‘’drive-thru’’ pallet racking system allows better accessibility and stock rotation.

Features of this system:

  • Inexpensive pallet racking system in relation to the volume of pallets which can be stored.
  • Forklift must enter tunnels to deposit pallets.
  • Lower selectivity, since pallets must be deposited one after the other.
  • Inferior stock rotation when compared to dynamic pallet racking systems.
  • Static pallet storage which is open on both sides allows for better inventory turnover.
  • Type of system: First in - Last out.
